The Gateway is one of the largest redevelopment projects in Utah. Valued at $375 million, it is an open-air, mixed-use development stretching across 40 acres of business, residential, retail, restaurant, and entertainment space in downtown Salt Lake City. High-end office towers contain 600,000 square feet of commercial space, while The Parc at the Gateway—a 12-story residential community—features a unique mix of contemporary flats, lofts and townhomes. An apartment complex also offers 332 units and a parking structure with 2,514 spaces. The retail portion totals 700,000 square feet and 90 stores, with the restaurant portion utilizing 64,000 square feet. More than half of this space is dedicated to specialty stores unique to the state. The rest of the space is set aside for a movie theater, a planetarium, and a children’s museum.
